Season 1 of the Gran Turismo World Series Manufacturers Cup 2022 Series got underway on the 27th of May with a race on the Nürburgring's 24-hour layout. It was the first such event to take place in Gran Turismo 7.

The opening race on the Nürburgring's 24-hour layout saw Toyota's ace driver ERM_Nick come out on top with a massive 467 points.

Round 2 took place on Sardegna - Road Track - C. The race was won by Subaru's PRiMA_Kylian19 — a rookie in the EMEA Region until the last Series — who scored 459 to move to the top of the leaderboard.

Round 3, which took place at the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit, was won by Volkswagen's Aphel-ion.

Round 4 took place at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, which boasts one of the world's best high-speed layouts. Subaru's PRiMA_Kylian19 ended up taking the most points in the round, his 463 points seeing him hold on to first place on the leaderboard. His nearest challenger in second place, meanwhile, Toyota's ERM_Nick, could only manage a relatively meagre 429 points.

The Daytona Road Course was the setting for Round 5. Toyota's ERM_Nick managed to score 445 points, but it wasn't enough to see him retake the lead overall.

The final race of Season 1 took place on the Suzuka Circuit, and was won by Porsche's TDG_JOSETE. TDG_JOSETE had started the Season sluggishly, recording a series of disappointing results, but he really pulled it together in the final race scoring 460 points and making significant progress on the leaderboard. It wasn't enough to get him to the top, however, and Subaru's PRiMA_Kylian19 retained his grip on first place to emerge victorious overall.

Until the last Series, PRiMA_Kylian19 has always opted for European manufacturers such as Ferrari, and his decision to switch to Subaru sent something of a shockwave through the Sport mode community. With Kerokkuma_ej20 also racing in the Asia-Oceania Region this season, it looks like 2022 is going to be quite a year for Subaru!
