4.2023 CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2023 Championships will be comprised of the following three stages:

1Online Series
2World Series Showdown
3World Finals
Details

1Online Series (GT1 League - GT3 League)

These races will make up the core of the championship.

Anyone can participate in the Online Series from within the 'Sport' mode of Gran Turismo 7.

Leagues

The Online Series will be organised in a League format, and drivers will be assigned to the following Leagues based on their Driver Rating (DR).

Leagues Driver Rating (DR)
GT1 League
A and above
GT2 League
B
GT3 League
C and below

A player's League will be determined by their current Driver Rating at the time of entering their first round of the Series.

Once a driver's League has been determined, their League will remain the same even if their Driver Rating changes during the Online Series.

Drivers for the World Series Showdown and World Finals will be selected based on their performance and only from the GT1 League.

Nations Cup Online Series

The Online Series for the Nations Cup will run from May to June.

The series will consist of seven rounds in total, each with a Qualifying and a Final race.

By participating in an online race, drivers will be awarded points based on their performance. These points will determine the competitors' positions in the rankings, which will be updated at the end of every round.

The driver selections for the World Series Showdown and World Finals will be made based on the results of the rankings in the GT1 League at the end of the Online Series.

The overall ranking is based on an effective points system: at the end of the Online Series, the final score will be tallied from the best 1/3 rounds out of the total (with half numbers rounded up.)

For example:
- After three rounds the points from the one best round will be tallied for the final score.
- After six rounds the points from the two best rounds will be tallied for the final score.
- After seven rounds the points from the three best rounds will be tallied for the final score.

Global Manufacturer Ranking

The Global Manufacturer Ranking of the GT1 League is used to determine the manufacturers that will compete at the World Series Showdown and World Finals.

The Global Manufacturer Ranking is determined at the end of the Online Series.

The overall ranking is based on an effective points system: at the end of the Online Series, the final score will be tallied from the best 1/3 rounds out of the total (with half numbers rounded up.)

For example:
- After three rounds the points from the one best Rounds will be tallied for the final score.
- After six rounds the points from the two best rounds will be tallied for the final score.
- After seven rounds the points from the three best rounds will be tallied for the final score.

The Global Manufacturer Ranking will be created as described below.

(1) A 'Manufacturer Ranking' will be created for each Region:
- At the end of each round, the position of a manufacturer in the 'Manufacturer Ranking' will be determined by the points acquired by its affiliated top driver (the driver who holds the highest score for that manufacturer in that round.)
- At the end of each round, 'Manufacturer Ranking Points' will be assigned to each of the 27 manufacturers based on their position in the above-mentioned 'Manufacturer Ranking', as follows:
1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th 13th 14th 15th
40 pts 36 pts 33 pts 30 pts 27 pts 24 pts 22 pts 20 pts 18 pts 16 pts 15 pts 14 pts 13 pts 12 pts 11 pts
16th 17th 18th 19th 20th 21st 22nd 23rd 24th 25th 26th 27th
10 pts 9 pts 8 pts 7 pts 6 pts 5 pts 4 pts 3 pts 2 pts 1 pt 0 pts 0 pts
1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th
40 pts 36 pts 33 pts 30 pts 27 pts 24 pts
7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th
22 pts 20 pts 18 pts 16 pts 15 pts 14 pts
13th 14th 15th 16th 17th 18th
13 pts 12 pts 11 pts 10 pts 9 pts 8 pts
19th 20th 21st 22nd 23rd 24th
7 pts 6 pts 5 pts 4 pts 3 pts 2 pts
25th 26th 27th
1 pt 0 pts 0 pts
If two or more of the top-ranking drivers from different manufacturers are tied on individual points, then the Manufacturer Ranking Points assigned to their respective manufacturers will be divided and assigned equally.

For example: Player A (Toyota) and Player B (Porsche) both have an individual score of 230 points. If both manufacturers are tied for 3rd in their Region, the points awarded for 3rd and 4th place will be added together with each team receiving half of the total (33+30=63/2=31.5 pts.)
(2) A 'Global Manufacturer Ranking' will be created:
- For each manufacturer, Manufacturer Ranking Points from all three Regions will be tallied to determine their 'Global Manufacturer Ranking.'
If two or more manufacturers have an equal number of points in the 'Global Manufacturer Ranking', the selection will be determined following these criteria:
a) the manufacturer with the highest Manufacturer Ranking Points across all three Regions and all Rounds; and
b) if still tied, the manufacturer with the highest individual points of their top ranking drivers from all three Regions; and
c) if still tied, the manufacturer with the highest individual points of their top-ranking drivers from all three Regions and all Rounds.

Drivers who reach the top ranks in the Series may register as 'Star Players' on the official gran-turismo.com website.

The Star Player registration prerequisites for both the Nations Cup and Manufacturers Cup in this Series are:

2022 World Finals drivers
2023 World Series Showdown drivers

When the prerequisites for a 'Star Player' registration are met, a notification will appear in-game. Please proceed to register on gran-turismo.com

'Star Players' are players who exhibit superior technique and sportsmanship that are revered by all players. It will be necessary for drivers to register more detailed profile information, and the player will receive more exposure in race reports and Live events. The Driver Rating of a registered Star Player will appear as 'S' in-game.

(The 'Star Player' registration form is available only to competitors aged 18 or over. In Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, competitors must be aged 21 or over.
'Star Player' registration prerequisites may change during the Series in response to the current players' registration situation.)
