Manufacturers Cup

As with the Showdown, the Manufacturers Cup is contested by the top-ranked manufacturers from the Online Series, together with our manufacturer partners Toyota, Genesis, and Mazda, for a total of 12 teams.

A driver from each of the three regions (Europe/Middle East/Africa, Americas, and Asia-Oceania) will be selected for each automobile manufacturer to form a 3-man team.

Teams to Watch

Porsche
Porsche dominated the Showdown despite being a man down. The same three drivers missed out on a podium finish last year, just finishing in 4th. Will they be able to claim the title with Inostroza back in action?

Subaru
Last year’s champions. When Robert Sternberg took over the wheel from Daniel Solis at the Showdown, they finished 2nd. A team of solid performers.

Lamborghini
Lamborghini surprised everyone when they toppled favourite Toyota to take 3rd in the Showdown. Check out our ‘Teams to Watch’ for the Showdown though and you’ll see their potential had not gone unnoticed.

BMW
Though a young trio of fresh faces, this is no shortcoming for BMW as their line-up includes Calen Roach in his first appearance, rumored to be the fastest rookie driver on the scene.

World Finals Competitors

World Finals Race Structure

The Manufacturers Cup will take place on 2 December and will consist of a ‘Qualifying Time Trial,’ a ‘Qualifying Race,’ and a ‘Grand Final.’

Qualifying Time Trial

One driver elected from each time will run a 1-lap time attack to determine the grid for the Qualifying Race.

Qualifying Race (Live Broadcast)

One driver elected from each team will participate in a race to determine the grid positions for the Grand Final.
The driver selected will be different from the Qualifying Time Trial so teams must pick the right driver for each task.

Grand Final (Live Broadcast)

This race will be a 3-man team race with driver changes.
Driver changes will take place during a pit stop while the team changes tyres and/or refuels.
A single driver must not drive more than three laps, so keeping an eye on the changing weather conditions and having a flexible pit strategy will be vital.
The team/drivers who win the Grand Final race will be declared the 2023 Manufacturers Cup Champions.

Nations Cup

The new team-based Nations Cup introduced in the Showdown will be contested by the top 12 ranked countries in the Online Series across all the Regions.

The top three drivers in the Online Series will be selected for each nation to form a 3-man team.

Teams to Watch

Spain
As predicted, Spain won this year’s Showdown event. The World Finals will again likely come down to the actions of this team.

Japan
Japan comes to the World Finals with a team of strong performers in live events. They were also the only team that even came close to beating Spain at the Showdown.

Brazil
Brazil’s line-up of experienced drivers is fronted by 3-time champion Igor Fraga. A definite fan favourite team.

USA
The American team continue to improve and from this event they have super rookie Calen Roach joining the line-up, which could put them in contention for the title. The dark horse of the World Finals.

World Finals Competitors

World Finals Race Structure

The Nations Cup will take place on 3 December and will consist of a ‘Qualifying Time Trial,' three individual races, and a 'Grand Final' team race.

Qualifying Time Trial

The highest-ranked driver from each country in the Online Series rankings will run a single-lap qualifier.
The result of this will decide the grid for Race 1 and the order in which drivers pick the car they will use for that race.
 

Race 1 / Race 2 / Race 3 (Live Broadcast)

Drivers from each country will participate in individual races. A different driver must be used in each race.
The results of each race will determine the grid positions for the next race, with Race 3 determining grid positions for the Grand Final.
Additionally, teams will be awarded points according to the results of each race.

Each race will have unique conditions so which driver the teams pick for which will be key.
In Race 1, where each country will use a different car, matching drivers to car types will also be important.
 

Grand Final (Live Broadcast)

This race will be a 3-man team race with driver changes.
Drivers are required to use three tyre types of differing grip and durability, meaning who and when they use a particular tyre will be key.
Individual skill alone will not be enough to win – teams will need to work together.
Points will be awarded based on the result of the Grand Final. These points will be double the points in Races 1-3.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GT Cup

The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GT Cup (TGR GT Cup) is a race series that features the GR lineup of cars, along with special race models.

After qualifying in seven online races, the top 21* drivers go through to the Finals along with three drivers from regional TGR events, for a total of 24 competitors.

*As calculated by their best four out of seven rounds from the online series.

Drivers to Watch

Jose Serrano
Though ranked only 5th in his Region, Serrano pulled off a double victory at this year’s World Series Showdown, racing with Porsche in the Manufacturers Cup and representing Spain in the Nations Cup. The undisputed favorite.

Takuma Sasaki
Sasaki scored two consecutive wins in 2021 and 2022 in the under 18 division of the Japanese National Esports Tournament. He also claimed victory in the World Series Manufacturers Cup racing alongside teammate Jose Serrano. An up-and-coming talent.

Calen Roach
Roach makes his first appearance in the World Series. He was unable to participate in this year’s World Series Showdown as he was below the age requirement at the time. Though relatively unknown, his skills on track are a topic of much discussion among the top players in Europe and Asia.
 

World Finals Competitors

Final Race Structure

The TGR GT Cup Final will take place on 1 December and will consist of a ‘Qualifying Time Trial,’ two ‘Semi-final' (Group A & B)’ races, a ‘Repechage,’ and a ‘Grand Final’ race.

Qualifying Time Trial

Finalists will run a 1-lap time attack.
Drivers ranked odd numbers in the Qualifying Time Trial will join Group A. Drivers ranked even numbers will join Group B.
Their qualifying times will also determine grid positions for their respective Semi-final races.

Semi-final Group A & B (Live Broadcast)

Drivers will participate in a single race, split into Group A and B. The top four positions in each group at the end of the race will automatically go through to the Grand Final. Positions 5-10 will race again in the Repechage.
Both Group A and B will be racing on Gran Turismo 7 original tracks.
Look forward to seeing an ever-changing grid as drivers push to overtake each other on a backdrop of dynamic scenery.

Repechage (Live Broadcast)

Positions 5-10 from each of the Semi-final Group A and B will participate in a race. The top four positions at the end of this race will go through to the Grand Final.
This race will take place on the new Lake Louise snow course added in Spec II.
Look forward to a unique and different race.

Grand Final (Live Broadcast)

The final 12 drivers consisting of the top four positions from each of the Semi-final Group A and B, along with the top four from the Repechage will participate in the Grand Final race.
With the new team format in the Nations Cup, this will be the only event at the World Finals with an individual winner.
The drivers’ endurance will be tested as they take the Toyota GR010 out on the long and winding Catalunya Circuit.
The result of the Grand Final will be counted as the final result of this year’s TGR GT Cup.
