Fifteen participants compete to win a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG at racing event presented by Gran Turismo®5

LONDON / STUTTGART, July 2011: Fifteen owners of the limited edition ‘Signature Edition’ Gran Turismo®5 (GT5™) game for PlayStation®3 will gather at Austria’s Red Bull Ring on 11-12 July to compete for the chance to drive away in a stunning Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG super sports car. The 15 participants from 11 different countries were all winners of an online competition run within the ultra-realistic GT5 racing simulation game. Now they have the chance to make their dreams come true by winning the spectacular gull-wing, 6.2 litre supercar that delivers 571hp, acceleration of 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 317km/h.

The Mercedes-Benz GT5 Driving Challenge that awaits the 15 would be prize enough for most people. They will be coached by experienced AMG racing instructors and compete against one another in different driving challenges developed by the AMG Driving Academy. The GT5 gamers will have to prove their technical skills and ability to safely manoeuvre an SLS AMG. In the end it will be a question of who can keep their cool during the heart-stopping finale. This head-to-head “drag race” between the top two competitors will determine the final winner and new owner of an SLS AMG.

Participants will receive support from two Mercedes-Benz motor sport professionals: Bernd Schneider and David Coulthard will be on hand to offer help and advice and will carefully analyse how the participants handle racing in “real life” situations. Schneider, five-time winner of the German Touring Car Championship (DTM), is well acquainted with the SLS AMG super sports car due to his role as a Mercedes-AMG Brand Ambassador. He also assisted developers in fine tuning the model to ensure that even the road-going version of the car delivers excellent racing performance. David Coulthard, the former Formula One racing driver with 13 Grand-Prix wins to his name, is currently competing in the DTM series for Team Mücke Motorsport, driving a Deutsche Post AMG Mercedes C-Class.

Motorsport enthusiasts and GT5 fans from all over the world are invited to actively support their local contender.
