Jann Mardenborough Wins His First GT300 Class Race at Round 2 of Japan Super GT

On Wednesday 04 May at the “Fuji GT 500 km” (Fuji Speedway), GT Academy Graduate Jann Mardenborough won his first race in the GT300 Class racing for NDDP RACING/GT-R NISMO GT3, Round 2 of Japan's Super GT. For the 2016 season, Jann landed in Japan through NISMO’s Global Driver Exchange Program, and this was his second Super GT race. The experience he gained in Europe brought him great results early on in Japan’s Super GT.

The B-MAX NDDP GT-R #3 driven by Jann and teammate Kazuki Hoshino started the final in 5th position. Off to a great start, they succeeded in having a very short first pit stop and rose to the top. Thereafter, even with a safety car cutting in due to a crash in the GT500 Class, they maintained top position, and once Jann had the wheel on their 73rd lap, they were in full control of the race, maintaining their gaps with the followers and passing the finish line successfully in 1st place.

In this same round, the MOTUL AUTECH GT-R (Car #1) won also the GT500 Class race: it was a day of victory for the Nissan GT-R, winning both classes of the Super GT.
