On Friday 9 October, the 'FIA Gran Turismo Championships' 2020 Series Overview page was updated. The following is a list of the main changes.
■ 2020 Series Extra Stage
This is a Time Trial event where competitors will race for an additional chance to earn a spot in the Nations Cup Online Regional Finals. The event will be open from Thursday, 15 October 15:00 JST until Sunday, 25 October 23:59 JST.
Competitors who record times fast enough to meet the selection criteria for this Extra Stage will be able to progress to the Nations Cup Online Regional Finals, which are due to be held in November.
However, competitors who have already earned a place in the Online Regional Finals through Stages 1-3 of the Nations Cup 2020 Online Series will not be eligible for this selection. (A list of already qualified competitors will be published at a later date.)
■ Nations Cup Online Regional Finals
The 'Nations Cup Online Regional Finals' are online events to determine the competitors who will qualify for the Nations Cup Online World Finals.
This event will be open to competitors who have been selected from the Stage 1-3 rankings of the Nations Cup 2020 Online Series, and those who have been selected from the 2020 Series Extra Stage.
The Nations Cup Online Regional Finals will be divided into 3 Regions: Europe/Middle East/Africa, the Americas, and Asia-Oceania. The top ranking competitors from each Region will go through to the Online World Finals, which are due to be held in December.
■ Online World Finals
The Online World Finals is an online event which is due to be held in December.
The below competitors and manufacturer teams will be eligible to compete in the Online World Finals.
Nations Cup
・ Competitors selected from each Region in the Online Regional Finals;
・ The winner of the 'World Tour 2020 - Sydney'.
Manufacturer Series
・12 manufacturers comprised of the Official Partners and the top ranked manufacturers from the Stages 1-3 rankings of the Manufacturer Series 2020 Online Series.
As with the winners of the 2018 and 2019 FIA Gran Turismo Championships, the winners of this Online World Finals will receive awards at the FIA Prize Giving Ceremony due to be held in December.
We will announce the details about the race dates and the YouTube broadcast dates for the Nations Cup Online Regional Finals and Online World Finals once confirmed.
