Kawakami drove Lexus to victory in the 2018 Manufacturer Series* driving for Lexus. Though a young new driver at the time, he is now regarded as a stalwart veteran. Despite a run of poor luck, Kawakami has never thrown in the towel and always keeps his head in the game right up to the finishing line.
