Polyphony Digital and Sony Honda Mobility Announce Partnership in Vehicle Development

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, U.S.A (January 9, 2023)—On January 8, 2024, Sony's Representative Director, President and COO Izumi Kawanishi announced that Sony Honda Mobility Inc. (SHM) would be making a ground-breaking announcement at CES® 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on January 9, 2024. And sure enough, SHM stated today that it was collaborating with Polyphony Digital Inc. a subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment, in real-world vehicle development.

What this means is that SHM will embark on a partnership with Polyphony Digital in vehicle development, with the aim of creating new value with partners by sharing vehicle information.

The purpose of this partnership is to develop vehicles that fuse the virtual and the real, mainly in the area of human senses and emotions by combining Polyphony Digital's simulation technology with the development of actual vehicles by SHM.

The AFEELA Prototype 2024, introduced at the press conference, will be included in a patch update for Gran Turismo 7 later this year (release date TBA.) Before the vehicle is released, gamers will have an opportunity to drive the car in the game.
