Gamescom, held in Cologne, Germany, is Europe's largest game convention. This year's event was held last week, August 18 to 22, and the results of the prestigious "Gamescom awards" were revealed on Friday, and Gran Turismo 5 received both the Best of Show and Best Console Game awards.

Awards are given in seven categories: "PC Games", "Console Games", "Online Games", "Mobile Games", "Hardware Accessories", and "Best of Gamescom". Below are titles nominated in the Best of Show and Best Console Game award categories this year were as follows.
