Jaguar Introduces the Vision Gran Turismo SV, Its Latest EV Racecar!
Jaguar took the veils off of its latest EV racecar on December 16 called the Vision Gran Turismo SV. While it will run only in the virtual world, Jaguar Design created a full-scale model to show how the svelte race machine would look in real life. Go to Jaguar's official Facebook page to see the unveiling event.
Designed by Jaguar and engineered by Jaguar SV (Special Vehicles), the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV is based on the Vision Gran Turismo Coupé introduced in 2019 and incorporates further developments meant to enhance its performance in 24-hour endurance racing.
The powertrain has been upgraded with the addition of another motor, making it four total. These power units feature the know-how garnered from Jaguar's participation in Formula E. The motors are powered by lithium-ion batteries, which are thermally controlled by a liquid-nitrogen cooling system, ensuring optimal performance no matter how many laps or hours the car is driven. The entire system produces 1903 ps (1400kW) and 3360 Nm of torque, allowing the car to reach a top speed of 255 mph (approx. 410 km/h).
As with the coupé model, the car is absolutely gorgeous, with a body that's defined by flawless proportions inspired by the legendary C-Type and D-Type. Noticeable differences from its predecessor are a new front splitter, an underbody that produces a Venturi effect, and a large rear wing.
The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV's body is also functional as it possesses excellent aerodynamics, which allow the car to attain higher cornering speeds and stability on long straights.
The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV is the boldest interpretation yet of an all-electric Jaguar endurance racer. We hope you sample it prowess in Gran Turismo!
