Kazunori Yamauchi's Keynote Presentation at the "Quattroruote Day" in Milan

Headlining Quattroruote Day, an event hosted by Italy’s most popular automotive media outlet, Quattroruote, was a keynote speech by Gran Tursimo series Producer Kazunori Yamauchi.

The event, which was held in Milan, Italy, on February 6, celebrates cars, technology and the people who have contributed to automotive culture. Numerous awards were handed out during this prestigious annual gathering, including “Car of the Year,” which went to the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, and Mazda’s SKYACTIV-X technology that took home the “Global Tech Award.” Osamu Suzuki, Chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation, won the “Gianni Mazzocchi Award,” named after the founder of Quattroruote magazine.

Mazda’s next-generation combustion technology, SKYACTIV-X, received the Global Tech Award. Standing on stage is the Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer of Mazda Motor Corporation, Kiyoshi Fujiwara.

The Chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Osamu Suzuki, was named the winner of the Gianni Mazzocchi Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the Indian automotive industry. Mr. Toshihiro Suzuki, current President and CEO of Suzuki Motor Corporation, received the award on Suzuki’s behalf.

Before the award winners were announced, Kazunori Yamauchi, gave a keynote presentation titled “The Future of the Automobile Industry and Gran Turismo,” where he talked about how Gran Turismo, now in its 20th year, had always supported the automobile industry and motorsports. He also mentioned how the Vision Gran Turismo projects and the FIA GT Championships will continue to have an impact on the industry for the next 100 years.

Yamauchi also explained the reasons he chose Umberto Boccioni's sculpture, called “Unique Forms of Continuity in Space,” as the model for the FIA GT Championships trophy. This led to a discussion on the “Manifesto of Futurism” by futurist and poet Marinetti. The speech and presentation were received with enthusiastic applause from the packed house.

After the award ceremonies, which were held at UniCredit Pavilion of Milan, an Audi Racing e-Challenge was hosted where 150 talented gamers showed off their skills in driving the R8 LMS through a virtual track on Gran Tursimo Sport. Yamauchi presented the winner with the first-place award to the delight of the spectators
