Wolfgang Reip & Team Crowned Blancpain Endurance Series Champions

On September 20th (Local Time) in Nürburgring, Germany the final round of the Blancpain Endurance Series was held, and the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 (Car #23) of the Nissan GT Academy Team RJN won 3rd place overall. With this impressive finish, its 3 drivers including 2012 GT Academy European Champion Wolfgang Reip, Katsumasa Chiyo, and Alex Buncombe reached the top of the driver’s point rankings, and won the driver’s title for the 2015 season.

Car number 23 started the 3 hour final race in the front row. Passing the baton from Chiyo, Wolfgang, and then to Alex while they chased the #58 McLaren lead car. With 10 minutes remaining in the race, The #7 Bentley car was aiming for a team title victory, and managed to pass the GTR, but the team was able to keep the # 1 Audi car at bay long enough to take home a 3rd place finish. Gaining 15 points for the driver’s title, the three men were ultimately declared Series Champions.

This year, the GT Academy team challenged the most difficult PRO class category in the Blancpain Endurance Series. The team managed to achieve impressive results despite the difficult challenge, and took home the ultimate crown. Meanwhile, the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 car 22 driven by Gaëtan Paletou, Ricardo Sanchez, and Harry Tincknell in the Pro-Am class, set the top time for its class in the second session of qualifying; but unfortunately was forced to retire out of the final race.
