The Xiaomi × Gran Turismo Collaboration

On June 7, Polyphony Digital revealed an exciting partnership between Xiaomi and the legendary Gran Turismo franchise.

Based in Beijing, Xiaomi made headlines in 2021 with its bold foray into the electric vehicle (EV) market. By 2024, the company had unveiled its first production EV, the SU7, followed closely by its flagship performance model, the SU7 Ultra—an astonishing machine boasting an output equivalent to 1500 horsepower.

Xiaomi didn’t stop there. The SU7 Ultra Prototype was engineered to conquer the Nürburgring Nordschleife. It captured the imaginations of car enthusiasts worldwide by setting a new lap record for a 4-door EV, clocking in at an incredible 6 minutes and 46.874 seconds.

Now, Xiaomi sets its sights on an even more thrilling venture: collaborating with Gran Turismo to create a Vision Gran Turismo car, promising to push the boundaries of automotive design and performance.

Also, the SU7 Ultra will soon find its way into Gran Turismo 7 as part of an upcoming update.

Xiaomi Group Founder, Director and CEO Lei Jun
"I feel very much the same as Kazunori Yamauchi in his grand philosophy of creating a better human society through the use of technology. At Xiaomi, we also aim to use technology to allow people to enjoy a beautiful life with technology, so these philosophies align with each other. The Gran Turismo series is world famous for providing the highest level of quality and experiences, so I am very happy that the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will be featured in Gran Turismo. I hope that many GT players and lovers of car culture will take the time to experience the allures of this high performance, intelligent vehicle that represents Xiaomi. The Chinese automotive industry has experienced rapid growth in recent years, so I hope that in the near future we will see many more Chinese cars in Gran Turismo."

Gran Turismo Series Producer, Kazunori Yamauchi
"I’m very happy we will be beginning a collaboration with Xiaomi. In the rapidly developing Chinese automotive industry, we saw Xiaomi, a new manufacturer, move from smartphones to appliances, to wearable devices, creating a smart ecosystem that covers every aspect of daily life, and the most important piece of that, the car, creating the SU7. Then at the same time, creating the SU7 Ultra Prototype and seeing them break the record on the legendary Nürburgring, I was deeply moved by their courage, inquisitiveness, passion, and the industriousness to make it all happen. I have sincere respect for them. These all deeply resonate with our mindset at Gran Turismo and Polyphony Digital."
