About the World Series

The history of automotive racing began in 1894 in Paris, France. Looking to sustain it for another 100 years, the Gran Turismo World Series began in 2018 as the 'Motorsport of the Future', an official tournament to find the world's best Gran Turismo driver.

The 2026 World Series will take place over four Global Events where the best drivers selected from the Online Qualifiers, along with seeded drivers, will compete for the championship title.

12 teams from the top ranked manufacturers in the Online Qualifiers plus Official Partner teams compete for the title in this championship. Each manufacturer team consists of three top drivers from the Europe/Middle East/Africa, Americas, and Asia-Oceania Regions of the Online Qualifiers. At the World Finals, these 12 teams - 36 drivers in total - will compete for the title of Manufacturers Cup Champion.

Sunday, 6 December 2026

The Nations Cup is a competition in which drivers represent their home country or territory. The competition brings together the world's very best 12 drivers, combining the highest qualifying drivers from each Region's Online Qualifiers and the top three champion drivers from the 2025 World Series Points Ranking. After battles in Milan, Tokyo (at the Polyphony Digital Tokyo Studio), and Singapore, the contest is finally set to reach its conclusion.

WORLD FINALS - TOKYO DRIVERS

The two-day World Finals event will be hosted by Sascha Böckle, a renowned sports announcer for Formula 1 and various motorsports in Japan, alongside Jules Hardy, a presenter and consultant for the BBC and BAFTA in the UK. This fusion of English and Japanese will create a truly global atmosphere, adding excitement to the event and on-track action as the champions of 2026 are crowned in Tokyo.
