Sony AI showcased the latest version of its racing AI agent called Gran Turismo Sophy (GT Sophy) in an eye-opening exhibition at the 2023 Gran Turismo World Series Showdown.

During last year’s World Series, GT Sophy beat the best GT drivers in the world in exhibition races, and ever since, it has continued to develop through state-of-the-art deep reinforcement learning technology and large-scale training via cloud-gaming infrastructure. At the 2023 World Series Showdown, the latest version displayed amazing driving performance that demonstrated the racing AI’s immeasurable potential.

Kaushik Subramanian, Senior Research Scientist at Sony AI, said, “It’s always surprising to see the unique ways in which GT Sophy learns to drive around the track.”
