The Red Bull X2014 Fan Car Comes to Life in the Form of a 1/18-scale Diecast Model
TOKYO, Japan (March 31, 2016) – So now that you’ve driven the amazing Gran Turismo Red Bull X2014 Fan Car, how would you like to own one? Well, now you can…although it’s a bit smaller than what you might expect. Famed model-maker AUTOart has introduced a beautiful 1/18-scale diecast replica of the popular virtual race car featured in the Gran Turismo game. Those with good memories will recall that AUTOart also produced a diecast model of the Gran Tursimo Red Bull X2010 back in 2012.
Created by the developers of Gran Turismo and the Red Bull race team, the Gran Turismo Red Bull X2014 Fan Car is the ultimate performance machine, forged from the quest to create the “fastest race car on Earth,” free of any regulations. At first glance, it looks no different than its predecessors, the X2010 and the X2011, but look closely and you’ll realize that everything except the cockpit is completely new. (Check out our images illustrating the evolution of the race car below.)
In true AUTOart fashion, the new model is an accurate representation of the real thing (or in this case, ‘virtual thing’), down to the smallest detail. AUTOart developed a unique Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) mixture to recreate the sharp edges of the body, while using diecast metal to form the base to give it solidity. And like the X2010 model car, the canopy can be opened, allowing you to examine the minute intricacies of the interior.
The Gran Tursimo Red Bull X2014 model comes three paint schemes: Dark Silver Metallic, Hyper Silver, and the Red Bull livery, and is priced at US$180 plus tax.
