The GT Academy Team Achieves a Class Win in the Blancpain Endurance Series

Sunday, June 2nd, at the Blancpain Endurance Series Round 2 held at the Silverstone Circuit of the UK, the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 car number 35 driven by Lucas Ordóñez, Peter Pyzera, and Alex Buncombe achieved a class victory in the Pro-Am class. Peter Pyzera who is the GT Academy 2012 Germany champion, succeeded in reaching the centre of the podium in a major race in just half a year since his racing debut.

The GT Academy team in the Blancpain Endurance Series showed high potential from the opening round held in Monza in April, and expectations were high for them to reach the podium in this race. In the second round at Silverstone the drivers were rearranged, and Peter, who drove with Mark Shulzhitskiy and Wolfgang Reip in the first race, being combined with Lucas and Alex. The Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 showed great speed from the start of the race, performing strongly in the top group throughout the free practice and qualifying rounds. In the final race, they marked 2 minutes 2.527 seconds, faster than even those in the top tier PRO class, and gradually pulled away from the rivalling Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in their own class.

Comment from Peter Pyzera
“For me, it is always fantastic to drive a race car. I am always thinking about half a year ago when I was sitting on a train station and playing games. When I am in a racing car, competing with the fastest drivers thanks to the GT Academy and Nissan, I am very proud of myself and of my team and I want to continue like this for the next races.”
In the meanwhile, car number 32 driven by Mark Shulzhitskiy, Steve Doherty, and Wolfgang Reip was unfortunately forced to retire after 54 laps.

The Blancpain Endurance Series will move on to Paul Ricard (France, June 29-30) Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium, July 24-28),and Nürburgring (Germany, September 21-22). Follow the GT Academy team as they take on the next challenge!
