Wolfgang Reip to Participate in the Bathurst 12 Hour Race

GT Academy 2012 European Champion Wolfgang Reip will be participating in this year’s Bathurst 12 Hour Race, held at Mount Panorama Circuit of Australia from the 6th to the 8th of February (local time). Wolfgang will be challenging this legendary event with Nismo Athlete Global Team members Alex Buncombe and Katsumasa Chiyo, in the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3.

Nissan returned to this race last year after a 22 year hiatus. During qualifying they were in 5th place, raising hopes for their results, but an accident in the 59th lap of the race final took them out of the competition. This year's 3 drivers, all part of the team that experienced the unlucky event of last year, are coming back ready to take revenge to this year's race.

Information regarding the Bathurst 12 Hour Race will be available on the official home page, as well as through NISMO TV and the official Nissan Motorsports website. In addition, events that will follow the race will be hosted in the Quick Matches within GT6 in conjunction with the start of the race, inviting players to share and experience the excitement of the event.

Comments from Wolfgang Reip

“Mount Panorama is one of the most magnificent tracks I have seen! It’s very difficult mentally; I would say it is as hard as the Nordschleife. I have raced on both and I would say that although Bathurst is shorter it is just as challenging.

“Racing at Bathurst as a European is a great feeling because not that many drivers get an opportunity like this during their career. It’s a privilege to be given that opportunity for the second time in a row alongside Alex and Chiyo.

“My expectations are always high for this event. We have a strong close-knit line-up and we can all push hard from the start. For sure it will be tough, due to the track itself and the amount of traffic we have to deal with but last year we were running in the Top 5 when the crash happened so we can expect at least as good as that. Let’s aim for a podium and we will see after 11 of the 12 hours where we are!”
