Subaru's Ace Kerokkuma_ej20 Wins the Inaugural Gran Turismo 7 Season!

Season 1 of the Gran Turismo World Series Manufacturers Cup 2022 Series got underway on the 27th of May with a race on the Nürburgring's 24-hour layout. It was the first such event to take place in Gran Turismo 7.

The big news at the start of the Season was that Akagi_1942mi—who had been one of Mazda's greatest talents, winning several titles—had made a shocking switch to Toyota. His anticipated showdown with yamado_racing38 for the title of Toyota's top driver attracted a great deal of attention.

The top points scorer in the first race, however, was neither Akagi_1942mi nor yamado_racing38. Instead it was Volkswagen's V1_CRV-KRT86 who emerged victorious, scoring 426 points—a huge victory for a driver who'd developed quite a reputation on the Under-18 circuit.

Round 2 took place on Sardegna - Road Track - C, and saw the sleeping giants rise from their slumber, with Subaru's ace Kerokkuma_ej20 romping home with 446 points.

In Round 3, which took place at the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit, Volkswagen's V1_CRV-KRT86 crushed his rivals, top-scoring with 446 points.

Round 4 took place at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, which boasts one of the world's best high-speed layouts. VQS_HIROGRAND, who had transferred from Volkswagen to Nissan, top scored with 439 points, allowing him to make good progress on the leaderboard.

In Round 5, which took place on the Daytona Road Course, the two Toyotas really showed off their speed, with yamado_racing38 and Akagi_1942mi both scoring 433 points. The much-discussed rivalry between the two Toyota aces was finally coming to life after they'd both suffered a disappointing start to the Series. Going into the final round, the two drivers found themselves locked in a fierce battle for second place.

The final race of Season 1 took place on the Suzuka Circuit, and was won by Subaru's Kerokkuma_ej20 with 445 points. This meant that he opened up a huge lead over second-placed Akagi_1942mi on the overall leaderboard.

Subaru's long-standing servant Kerokkuma_ej20 had done it again, therefore, claiming the Season 1 title in style.
