Game Modes
Gather with your friends with the PSP® -This is a new playing style that did not exist in the previous renditions of the “Gran Turismo” series. The PSP ® version of “Gran Turismo” is designed to be “more the merrier”! Two players is better than one, three is better than two, and even better with four.
Gather for fun, with the Adhoc mode
With everyone bringing their own PSP®s and connecting up with the wireless LAN, you can have a whole new world of fun that is not possible playing by yourself. That’s what the Adhoc mode is about.
There are 3 main types of races:
The rival cars being controlled by people rather than the CPU, means of course more dramatic races. The system has been set up to balance out skill differences of the players, so that even beginners and experts can enjoy a close-call, head to head race together.
Races in Adhoc mode are also set so that the prizes are much higher in amount than in single player races. A few races together- and before you know it, you may end up with a horde of credits!
3 races to play in “Adhoc Mode”
- Standard Race
A true match of player skill versus skill! - This is a true match testing the skills of the players. This is recommended if you have players with relatively equal skill levels.
- Party Race
Start with delay times depending on the finishing position in the previous race - This is a race in which the differences in player skill are compensated for by delaying the start time. The first race starts simultaneously, but following races will incur a start delay depending on your last position. It will be a test of a players skill, to see if they can overcome their start delay!
- Shuffle Race
Player skill differences are balanced with the performance level of the cars - This is a race in which the differences in player skill are compensated for with a performance difference of the cars. Depending on the race result, slower cars are randomly assigned to winners, and faster cars are randomly assigned to the runner’s up. It will be a challenge of a player’s skill to try overcoming those with faster cars, with a slower car.
Jackpot Chance!
Though prize credits for “Adhoc mode” races are already set higher than in ”Single Race”, there is an opportunity to gain even more credits - in the “Jackpot Race”.
If a “Jackpot Race” is announced during a race, the prize will be multiplied by a certain amount. If you continue racing each other, you can get higher and higher prizes.
But that’s not all. In a “Jackpot Race”, a random player is selected as the “Lucky Player”, and if he or she wins, they take all the winnings for the entire race, from first to last place! This is a serious opportunity to make some credits!

- The "Jackpot" will only appear in "Adhoc mode". Don't miss your big chance to make a lot of credits!
Even if you’re not confident about your driving, there’s still a way.

- Before the start of a race, choose whether you will be having the AI driver start the race, or driving yourself. In the case of an AI driver, the letters “AI” will appear to the side of the car.
“I love cars, but I’m not good at driving games…”
There’s still a way for people like this in “Gran Turismo” PSP®.
Though limited to the “Adhoc mode”, you can have an “AI driver” race for you.
You can choose whether to drive yourself or have the AI driver drive, and even during the race, you can press the START button to change drivers at any time.
In addition, you can train your AI driver. With a well trained AI driver, you can race people that are better drivers than you, or race AI drivers against each other, even if you are not confident about your own driving skills.
Drive in “Single Race” to nurture your AI driverTo train your AI driver, drive and complete races in the “Single Race” events. As the AI points gained according to your performance accumulate, the driving level of the AI driver will level up in 5 ranks, from “D” to “S”. The addition of AI points will be performed individually for each track, so you should level up the AI on the tracks you are not as good on. In this way you can prepare your very own, reliable co-driver! |
Increase your collection

- The shortcut to a complete collection is sharing & trading. However, some rare cars can only be traded, not shared.
To purchase over 800 cars through the dealer- is not impossible to do, but might not be not very realistic.
So what do you do to gain all your favorite cars?
The answer is simple. Use the “Share & Trade” feature of the “Adhoc mode”, and share and trade cars with your friends.
Use the “Adhoc Mode” to interact with as many friends as you can, to fill up your collection.
