Here is the latest information regarding "Gran Turismo 5", announced at the worlds largest game show, the E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) held on June 15.
Over 1000 Cars Included:
The Greatest Number of Cars Ever, at the Highest Quality
There are over 1000 cars appearing in "Gran Turismo 5", the most ever in the series. The worlds hottest cars from car manufacturers all over the globe, both past and present have been gathered here.
And one thing that must not be forgotten when talking about cars in this edition, is the existence of "Premium cars" and "Standard cars". Here are the details regarding the differences between the two:
Detailed and Beautiful, "Premium Cars" Replicated Inside-out, from the Interior Down to the Finest Details
Includes over 200 cars
From the seductive body lines of sports cars; to the view of the world when you first sit and look out through the front windshield, down to the instrument panel with all the gauges - in premium cars, "everything visible" about a car is recreated, from its exterior to the interior.
"Gran Turismo 5 contains over 200 of these "Premium cars" alone.
Updated and Included from the Previous Series, the Immense Range of Selection is the Attraction of "Standard Cars"
Includes over 800 cars
The massive number of cars included in the past "Gran Turismo" series, have been beautifully recreated through PlayStation 3 and today’s technology, for the "Standard cars".
The collection includes an amazing 800+ cars. The vast selection from a wide range of era’s and categories, is the greatest attraction of "Standard" cars.
From the Exterior Down to the Last Button on the Center Console, the Level of Recreation in a Premium Car will Change the Standard in Video Games
The allure of a "Premium" car is in its thorough recreation. Not only the exterior, but the high precision in the recreation of the interior, is something you will only see in "Gran Turismo 5".
From commercial cars to racing cars, all the unique instrument panels of different cars, as well as the colors and textures of the seats and interior materials, have been painstakingly recreated.
Below are the comparison shots between the detail of the Premium cars (Right) in Gran Turismo 5, and the actual photographs of the cars taken during the data capturing sessions (Left). See for yourself how far we have gone to recreate in "5".

- ARTA Garaiya (SUPER GT)
The interior of the Garaiya which competes in the Super GT. Starting from the frame forming the chassis, everything from the steering wheel, pedals, switches and wires have been accurately recreated.

- Audi R8 4.2 FSI R Tronic
Wheel area of the Audi R8. Not stopping just at the fine details of the wheel’s shape, items like the brake calipers and brake rotors have also been recreated.

- Ferrari 458 Italia
The engine room visible from the rear window of the Ferrari 458 Italia. Mounted is the 4.5 liter V8 engine that produces 570ps.

- Nissan GT-R Spec V
The front grill area of the Nissan GT-R Spec V. You can see of course the GT-R emblem, plus the special carbon parts which identify it as a Spec V.

- Dodge Challenger SRT8
The rear seats of the Dodge Challenger. Though it may not be seen often during racing, it is still reproduced with precision nonetheless.
Headlights also come on in Gran Turismo 5. In premium cars you can even switch between low beams and high beams. Not just there to light up the road in front of you, you can now adjust the light according to your needs.
| Premium cars: | Switching of Highbeams/lowbeams enabled |
|---|---|
| Standard cars: | Lights only |
The Most Exciting American Motorsport: NASCAR
For the first time in the series, Gran Turismo 5 will contain NASCAR. You can of course drive the modified "Stock Cars", and star NASCAR drivers like Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Dale Earnhardt Jr., appear with their real life names.
Another scene of interest in NASCAR is the incredible pitwork. The lifting of the car, the lightning fast tire changes and refueling performed by the elite pitcrew staff, have all been recreated in detail.

- The cockpits of the stock cars are also reproduced in detail. In the photo is Tony Stewart’s Office Depot/Old Spice Chevrolet Impala

- The car is jacked up one side at a time in the pit, and tire changes and refueling are performed at blinding speed.

- Brian Vickers

- Carl Edwards

- Dale Earnhardt Jr.

- Jeff Gordon

- Jimmie Johnson

- Joey Logano

- Juan Montoya

- Kyle Busch

- Tony Stewart
